Dizzy About Autumn

I am so excited! Autumn is so close and I love it!!

Autumn has always been pretty awesome though, Crunching leaves, Collecting conkers, Puddle splashing (although I think there’s been a fair bit of that this summer too), Wooly jumpers and scarves come out. Autumn is very…. Cosy!!

But we’re at that bit just before Autumn really kicks in, Summer weather is usually pretty nice in September.. We have those REALLY hot days, and the odd chilly ones, but you begin to see the leaves turning and falling already.

September reminds me of starting back to school, and playing on the playground near the sycamore tree, where on the ground we’d find ‘helicopters’! Of course they weren’t real helicopters, but sycamore seeds. My friends and I would collect them up, and with a collective “1, 2, 3!” throw them in the air, and then watch mesmerised as they spun to the ground… and then we’d do it all again!

I couldn’t resist but base this weeks treasury somewhat on those experiences, so I created “Dizzy!“. The treasury full of things that ‘spin’, including some beautiful artwork featuring sycamore and maple seeds. I hope you like it.

It’s not just Autumn I have been getting excited about this week. Having spent some time working through my business plan, I have spent a lot of time looking at marketing strategies, SWOT, USP’s and all sorts of other stuff. I can’t believe how much I hadn’t even considered about my business, and I have found it challenging to say the least.

Anyway, trying not to fall to far off topic, marketing strategies really got me thinking about how much (or how little) I actually do.  I have the business cards, the car magnet, postcards, Facebook, Twitter, Etsy, blogs, and I attend craft fairs, but I spend little time networking and approaching businesses. I decided to do something about it! I joined LinkedIn.. I have no idea what I’m doing on there, so I’m kind of winging it at the minute.

I also realised I needed to make the most of my creativity when marketing my business. So I have decided to work on some designs for corporate business cards, ready for when I’m networking. I have A LOT of hard work coming up and I want to make the most of it! I’m not going to divulge too much info on it though, that would spoil the surprise. I did some searching for inspiration and found some really fun business card idea’s. The ones below were my favourites.

Slight Delay… and Bank Holiday

I’m a little late with this WEEKENDS blog post *insert embarrassed face here*.  I’ll be honest I was little over tired and preparing for the Fair we did at Catton Hall’s Dog Show and Garden Party.

I did find time to put together my treasury though. This week is called “Vintage Crafter”, put together with some of the lovely vintage craft things I get excited about, and that remind me of being a child. I grew up surrounded by crafting goodies, I have so many fond memories.

The rings turned out much better than first thought. I’ve always been wary with rings, as I haven’t found many glues I am happy with. But I have found some that is really good, and so far I’ve been really happy with it.
It means that now I’ll be able to work on more ring designs, as well as brooches, clip on earrings and studs! So watch this space!!

Anyway, I thought I’d also share a few pictures from yesterday’s Bank holiday outing. We did a stall at the Catton Hall dog show and garden party. It was not the nicest of weather, but what else do you expect on Bank Holiday Monday? It was rainy and blustery, but we still enjoyed our selves and met some lovely people (and dogs). Still recovering today though, days like that can be really tiring.

It’s been busy week. I’ve been sorting out my website. I decided to change from my original website and go for something snazzy. I headed over to wix to produce a freebie, and have a link to my Etsy shop for any purchases. Don’t you just love these little guys? Koala’s are fantastic and cute. This week I had been focusing of my koala designs, and thought I should make the most of it.

The Beauty Of Grace

Hey there folks!!
That week sure came around quick, and it’s been a busy one! I’ve been testing glue out for future creations, it’s been successful! So soon I’ll be making and adding rings, brooches and stud earrings to my etsy shop! It’s very exciting

I haven’t been intensely creating this last week, as I’ve been sorting paperwork, searching for glue, working on new business cards and postcards and all sorts. The things I have been making, I haven’t had a chance to photograph. A bit pants I know, Sorry! So I’ll share this set. the colours match the treasury pretty well, and I think it’s rather cute!

Song Of The Week - Be My Escape

This has to be one of my all time favourite Relient K tracks…. But I do have so many favourites by them!
I adore this band, they’re up there in my top 3. “Mmhmm” is an awesome album too.
This song sums up how I can end up feeling a lot of times. You’ll have to give it a good old listen. But I got to say my favourite line in the song is “But the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair”.
I might make “Song of the Week” a new feature. If so you’ll probably see a few more Relient K songs pop up over the year, but I assure you, they’ll be worth a listen.

Film Night!!

I’ll be honest, it’s years since I went to the pictures.  The last film I went to see was “The Dark Knight” 4 years ago. I do miss it, but it’s sooooooooo expensive, so I just wait until it’s out on DVD! Instead of going to watch films, me and the boyfriend are watching back to back ‘prison break’… We’re almost at the end of season 4 now, and although we’ve seen it all before, it’s still pretty gripping. (Yeah I know, we’re sad) It’s led to so pretty weird dreams though, often resulting in me avoiding the company.. Ooooops! I think I’ve had prison break overload!
Aside from that I HAVE been creating. I made some super cute children’s bracelets and some pretty and delicate adults bracelets, ideal for weddings and proms etc.

I’ve also been working on a new website. It’s really coming along nicely and should be up and running soon. I decided to use a wix free site for now and link the shop to my Etsy shop until I can get a nice spangly e-commerce site. It’s not the most ideal, but it will do the job.
Ok, so I also did a tiny weeny bit of retail therapy, and picked up this gorgeous cardigan.. I’ve been searching for one like this for AGES, and found it on Monday. I was so pleased with it, it matched my cute new skinny jeans I had for my birthday a treat! So I wore this outfit to the craft fair on Saturday.

It’s been a really busy weekend. I did a fair on Sunday, which was a long but lovely day.. And this week I’m working on a  new website, Something pretty and snazzy! So hopefully that will be up and running soon.

“Cool It” Treasury

Ok, So I know I haven’t been on the ball recently.. It seems keeping up with this blogging lark isn’t as easy as just writing it on my to do list! I also have to think about what I want to write…. NOT my strongest point. I’ve never really been the academic type. BUT I can share pictures, well I’ll do my best.

So my new plan, to take the pressure off my over~reactive brain, is to share;

I’m a little behind with the treasuries (oops) The one above is from July 1st, Celebrating the Ice Lolly!! However the one below, from July 8th,  is celebrating cake. Partly because is was my birthday, but cake is awesome!

Fruits Books – I’ve been after these books since they were released, but never got around to buying them!

This weeks treasury is all about Cute kawaii clothing. I adore japanese street fashion! I liked it before I even knew about it. I have always been quirky with the way I dress, and was often called “weird” or a “freak” because of it.. Not that I cared, it’s the way I’ve always been, I don’t even have to try! When I discovered the Fruits books I was in awe.. Finally, books filled with “my sort of clothing”.

I used to head to the book shop at breaks and dinner when I was at college, head straight to them and just look through them over and over. But for one reason or another I just never got around to buying them. My lovely Boyfriend bought them me for my birthday this year.. I was so pleased! Better late than never haha!

This treasury has just a small amount of the kawaii clothing I love, but I hope you like it anyway. I’m sure I’ll be doing more reflecting different points of Japanese Street Fashion… Enjoy… ♥
